Founded in 2019, Nonbeenary Designs is, at its heart, a graphic design and content production company. Nonbeenary Designs encompasses the many digital interests of owner and operator Sam Davis.
Born in Rochester, NY, Sam has pursued creativity all life long through writing and art. Sam earned a B.S. as a first generation college student at Daemen College in Amherst, NY, then a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from Wright State University in 2015. Since then, Sam has been working as a Conservation Scientist at Dogwood Alliance. Sam pursues projects that are interesting, fun, and weird.
Sam Sarson (Davis) has been involved in visual design projects since the mid 2000s, with hundreds of web-based projects under their belt, in many different languages and platforms. In 2019, however, Sam decided to foray into the world of vector and graphic design, after realizing that there were some problems that well-timed Google searches could not solve. Weird art that makes folks stop, think, or laugh is at the heart of what Sam does.
Sam sells art in person, on Etsy, Redbubble, and TeePublic, but still designs primarily for fun. Designs generally span from obscure to regal, and focus on the myriad of Sam’s interests: memes, wildlife and conservation, and progressive issues. You can also find Sam’s art on Facebook and Instagram.
Sam began working on the internet in 2003 ish, first creating hobby websites before graduating to professional website design in short term jobs and freelance contracts. Sam has been writing nearly as long, picking up freelance articles and contracts as both a poor college student and a bored adult. Sam also has edited and proofread multiple novels through freelance contracts.
Sam is currently working on two major content production projects. The first, Sticker Crypt, is a help site for Etsy shop owners who sell stickers. The second, WITCHYVERSE, is a pagan lifestyle blog featuring many different authors and perspectives. Sam also supports several friends and family's business websites with hosting and design services.
Sam has been featured and quoted in print media, podcast, radio, and as a keynote speaker - usually on topics of the environment and justice. Nonbeenary Designs is a labor of love, not a full time job. To pay the bills, Sam works as a conservation scientist with an environmental nonprofit, focused on the issues of forests in the US.
Sam has also recently begun seeking media opportunities for Nonbeenary Designs and other projects. If you're media and interested in speaking, please reach out.
